2014/15 SEASON

28th March

Glossop North End 0 AFC St Austell 1 (2-1 on aggregate)

Glossop held on to claim their place in the FA Vase final, despite St Austell scoring in the 90th minute to give the home supporters a nervous last few minutes.
The home side were reduced to 10 men when Matt Russell was show a red card after 6 minutes for a late challenge on Neil Slateford. Despite this setback Glossop had the better chances to score with Tom Bailey coming closest in the first half when hit shot hit the outside of the post.
Jason Carey came closest to scoring in the 2nd half but couldn't control his shot which went wide of the goal at the end of a good move.
With time running out and the heavy rain soaking the pitch, Liam Eddy found space on the right and his shot across the goal beat Greg Hall to give the visitors hope, but Glossop held on for 4 minutes of added time to reach the final for the 2nd time in 6 years.
The final will be against North Shields at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 9th May. Kick off 3pm.

Glossop have a 2 goal lead going into next weeks 2nd Leg of the FA Vase Semi-Final, but it could have been more as they failed to make the most of the chances created.
Lee Blackshaw opened the scoring for Glossop after 16 minutes with a powerful shot, before Jason Carey had one attempt saved by the Jason Chapman in the St Austell goal, another cleared off the line, and another chance wide of the goal.
Tom Bailey thought he had made it 2-0 in the 2nd half but this was disallowed for offside. Lee Blackshaw also had 2 great chances to increase the lead with a close range shot going wide, and another attempt just over the bar, before St Austell threatend to equalise during their best spell of the game, but fortunately for Glossop their shot was straight at goalkeeper Greg Hall.
The 2nd goal finally came in injury time, when a Tom Bailey shot came back off the cross bar for Ben Richardson to follow up and score.
